  Can Genetically Improved Cotton Be Successfully Used Someday To Benefit Indian Farmers?

Improved varieties of cotton, genetically altered to resist insects, have been grown successfully in the USA, Australia and China for a number of years. Recently in India, the GEAC has allowed field trials of genetically mofidified cotton to take place, and the ICAR plans to develop its own genetically altered cotton variety.
