the capabilities and requirements of multi user computer systems such as Public
Data-base systems and Corporate Management systems etc.
Low-cost Data Transfer :- The cost of exchange of data within the country
and abroad through inet is the lowest amongst the different alternatives. These
changes are also independent of distance i.e. they are the same from anywhere
within the country.
International Access :- Inet is connected both ways to all important data
networks in other countries. Data Network identification Code (DNIC) of inet for
access for networks and data base facilities offered by the international
networks.
Gateways :- Inet Phase II will have both way connectivity to Remote Area
Business Message Network (RABMN), High Speed VSAT Network (HYNET). Gateway
Packet Switching system (GPSS), Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN),,
Internet and the ISDN of the Department of Telecommunications.

TYPE
OF ACCESS
BSNL provides four types of connections to access Internet by a
subscriber
PSTN dial up access
ISDN dial up access
Leased line access
Direct internet access
Broadband Connectivity is also available through PUNCOM & STPI
BSNL internet service offers flexible options of access plans for PSTN dial-up
in six slabs of 25,50,100, 200, 500 and 1,000 hours. It has an ISDN dial up
package of 100, 500 and 1,000 hrs. In order to live up to it's promise of
being affordable, BSNL has determined a tariff structure that won't pinch your
pocket. In fact access charges of BSNL for Internet services are the lowest in
the Country.
BSNL has recently introduced DIAS in select cities of the Country. The DIAS
offers a wire-line solution for high speed symmetrical Internet access on the
existing telephone lines. It provides an "always on" internet access
that is permanently available at customer's premises. DIAS combines voice and
internet data packets on a single twisted pair wire at subscriber premises
Duration based Dialup Internet Service (CLI based) is a unique method
providing Internet service in which the Customer can access the Internet
service from any telephone through dial up. The service allows automatic
registration on first LOGIN. The authentication will be based on CLI of the
telephone with the password supplied by the caller. The charging is totally
usage based and the service is a post paid service like normal PSTN. The
billing will be separate based on the duration of use and will be charged to
telephone bill (CLI based) as Internet access charge at the prescribed rate.
