Student Pass

You need a Student Pass if you plan to go to Singapore to study in any of the following:

Government, government-aided and independent school or junior college, (a letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Education in Singapore is required, and no application fee is charged);

Private school/foreign system school, (a Security Deposit of S$5,000 and a letter of acceptance from the educational institution in Singapore is required)

Institution of higher learning/government training institute, (a letter of acceptance from the educational institution in Singapore is required).

In all cases, you need to have a local sponsor who is either a Singapore citizen or a permanent resident of Singapore. For instance, my son Manav, is presently enrolled at the United World College of South-East Asia. We just took him to Singapore on a tourist visa, and all his formalities were completed by the school itself.
