This
is a play positive living, specially highlighting the
Punjabi culture and heritage. The play is aimed at the
younger generation, and those youth who are taking to drugs
and other kinds of addiction. A large number of young people
in Punjab are ruining their life due to addition and other
related problems.
The
play Jeene Di Rah attempts to show the right way to the
youth by citing the examples of the Sikh Gurus and saints.
The story goes that a group of youth become drug addicts and
ruining their lives. One day a saint (who appears like a
Singh Guru) comes in their life. He takes a sympathetic view
of their problem and instead of scolding of berating them,
tries to tell them that one can also have a positive
approach to life. There are many ways that a person can live
and a positive way of living could be more interesting and
adventurous than being addicted to drugs and liquor. He
cites the example of Sikh Gurus and tells them about their
teaching. All this transform the youth and they come out of
the grip of drugs to lead a life that could be more
fulfilling and useful.
The
play banks heavily on Sikh religious text to sent across a
message to the frustrated youth and to show them the right
path.
