CEA at the University of Guadalajara: CEA's program at the University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico is designed to help students acquire fluency and the communication skills in the Spanish language.
Curriculum Highlights: CEA students attend the Centro de Estudios Para Extranjeros (CEPE, established in 1948), which focuses on the needs of foreign students who wish to learn the Spanish language and aspects of Mexican culture. The professors pride themselves in their capacity to train students who are willing to close the gap between cultures.
Setting Description: A walk through the university reveals a rich diversity of students and faculty members. In the classrooms, laboratories and the Center's adjoining bilingual library, people from many different countries, races and beliefs come together to pursue a common objective: to learn Spanish and experience the Latin American culture.

Council Study Center University of Guanajuato: This program is for students from all disciplines who have an elementary knowledge of the Spanish language and wish to rapidly advance in their oral, aural and written Spanish ability, and also have an interest in Mexican themes, including culture, history, arts, literature and business.
Curriculum Highlights: Intensive Spanish language classes with no more than 12 students, specially designed content courses taught entirely in Spanish to promote both informational and linguistic learning, family home stays and integrated experiential activities.
Setting Description: The University of Guanajuato is the pre-eminent university in the State and also is ranked among the top institutions of higher learning in Mexico. The University has a long history, dating back to 1732, when a Jesuit school was first created that, eventually, evolved into what is now the University of Guanajuato.

Service-Learning in Mexico: Connect academic study to community service at an agency that matches your skills and interests. By combining formal study with service to the local community, students find their learning takes on greater depth and meaning.
Curriculum Highlights: "Institutions in Mexican Society" draws from Anthropology, sociology, history, organization development, etc., and incorporates the learning done in the service agency. Students staying a second term may be able to choose a course from the regular university listings.
Setting Description: Service-learning students live with host families while attending the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, a leading Mexican university. Guadalajara is an historica city as wel as a contemporary cosmopolitan center.
Program Value: Students learn about the society from an insider's point of view and through the service are able to connect to the community at a much deeper level than a traditional exchange student or tourist.

Overview: ISA programs are all inclusive except airfare. Students live with host families which provide meals and laundry service. Students can take beginning, intermediate, and advanced level courses and can earn 6-36 hours of credit depending on length of program. Cultural Excursions are also included in our program. A 2.5 GPA is required for this program.
Curriculum Highlights: All classes are held and taught by faculty members from the Universiy of Guanajuato. It is possible to earn 15-18 hours of credit per semester and 6-8 hours of credit per summer session. Students can also receive up to 2 hours of tutorial assistance daily.
Setting Description: Guanajuato remains one of Mexico's best preserved cities. Its older buildings still appear relatively untouched by modern construction, lending the town a distinctive European air. Guanajuato's rich history, timeless appearance, and small size help to create a unique atmosphere.

Grassroots Development and Social Change: This program introduces you to the history and potential of grassroots movements and their impact on Mexico's social, economic, and political future. (16 credits in total) 7 weeks homestay in Oaxaca and a 1 week rural community homestay. The program includes visits and field trips to community development sites and projects in the sierra and coastal areas of Oaxaca state, as well as to archaeological sites in the Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Mexico City areas.
