Overview: Morocco provides unique opportunities to examine Islam as a religion and a system of thought, study the Moroccan political system and monarchy, and investigate current development issues.
Curriculum Highlights: Intensive Language Study: Arabic; Culture and Society Seminar: History and Politics, Religion, Gender Issues, Culture and Society, and Educational Excursions; Field Study Seminar; and Independent Study Project. (16 credits in total) 8 weeks homestay in Rabat and 1 week in a rural village. The program features excursions to the imperial cities of Fes, Meknes, and Marrakech; the desert area of Zagora; a weeklong village stay in the High Atlas Mountains; and visits to universities and NGOs in different parts of the country.
Setting Description: The program is based in Rabat, the cosmopolitan capital of Morocco.
Program Value: Fees include international airfare, health insurance, tuition, full room and board, excursions, and other direct program expenses. Participants pay for domestic travel to the point of departure from the USA.

Study Abroad in Morocco: International students can study in English at this English speaking University for one or two semesters and are fully integrated into campus life with Moroccan students.
Curriculum Highlights: Numerous classes are available each semester for the undergraduate and graduate degree programs in computer science, business and international studies. Language classes include Modern Standard Arabic, Moroccan Colloquial, French, Spanish and Berber.
Setting Description: In the most secure country in Middle East and North Africa, Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) is located in the Middle Atlas mountains just one hour from the two former imperial cities of Fes and Meknes. The campus is very modern and well eqipped for the resident student population of 1000.
Program Value: Students should check to see if their institution has a bilateral agreement with AUI or check with CCIS or Binghamton University which eases the transfer of credit. Students can also apply directly as transient students.
