University Library is the Centre of academic and research activities of the University. It is housed in a spacious modern building with a majestic reading hall having capacity of 400 readers. Special reading rooms have been made available for students who wish to work in serene and comfortable surroundings, three additional reading rooms have been provided on the ground floor.

Special efforts are being made to reorganise the library on modern lines. In house jobs have been automated. Library is actively participating in the INFLIBNET programme of UGC. Presently, the Library is using DELDOS and LIBSYS softwares. Database of 90000 documents has been generated. Complete automation is envisaged in the near future.

To provide adequate services to the students of computer science and to the general public, Extension Library at S.A.S. Nagar has been established. Important books of general interest for adults and children are available in this library.

Library also maintains some departmental libraries to fulfil the immediate needs of the readers. Library has access to the rich literature available in the library of Dr. Balbir Singh Sahitya Kendra, Dehradun.

Punjabi Reference Library

Punjabi Reference Library contains valuable material on Punjabi language, literature, Punjab History and Culture. It has been housed in a splendid building which has been interlinked with the main University Library. The Library procured 36000 current documents and 42000 personal collections of 34 eminent historians and Literatures. This collection is rare and precious, some old files of newspapers and manuscripts are of immense use to the scholars from India and abroad, nearly 40 readers consult this library everyday.
