in French/Francophone studies, African studies, international relations, or
development studies and are seeking an opportunity to live and study in a
French-speaking West African country considered by many to be one of the
most developed and democratic nations in that region, then this program is
right for you. The program is geared toward students interested in
continuing French language study and learning Wolof, while taking other
courses in English and having a cultural immersion experience. Curriculum Highlights: Homestays with Senegalese families,
Opportunities for community service/internships, Possibility of attending
regular university courses taught in French, All courses taught by
Senegalese professors, Field trips to GorŽe Island and Saint Louis. Setting Description: CouncilŐs main partner in Senegal is the Baobab
Center, a cultural resource and training center operated by Africa
Consultants International, a non-profit organization created in 1984. All
basic language instruction in French and Wolof takes place at the Baobab
Center, and homestays and cultural orientation sessions are also organized
by Baobab Center staff. Program Value: The Council fee includes tuition, housing, a meal

culture, and politics, despite its small size and population. This program
introduces you to Senegal's enormous contribution to African art and
culture. Curriculum Highlights: Intensive Language Study: French; Arts and
Culture Seminar: Senegalese Life and Culture, Arts and Culture, and
Educational Excursions; Field Study Seminar; and Independent Study Project.
(16 credits in total) 5 weeks homestay in Dakar, 1 week in Saint Louis, and
1 week in a rural location. The program includes field trips to Saint Louis,
including its university and Park of Djoudj (a migrant bird reserve); the
Petite Cote; Goree Island; Lac Rose; and, if possible, the game reserve in
the national park of Niokolo Koba in Eastern Senegal. Setting Description: The program is based in Dakar, a spacious and
bustling city, juts into the ocean and the Cap Vert peninsula. Program Value: Fees include international airfare, health insurance,
tuition, full room and board, excursions, and other direct program expenses.

course is a comparative study of education as the motor of development for
the world. The sociological, political, societal and economical impact of
education on the world development. Curriculum Highlights: This course is 3 semester hours. It is
designed for students who are interested in analyzing and connecting
cultural, educational, political and economic systems around the world.
Students will also develop a community-based project focusing on
intercultural connections between African and American cultural,
