"WHIZ KID CLIMBS HIGHER "
It appears that breaking the Guinness Records is a child's play for the boy. Born on September 9th 1987, at 9 years and 6 months, he became the youngest in history to finish school, breaking Britain's Lord Kelvin's (Of the Kelvin Scale Of Temperature) record of 10 years and 4 months which has been around since 1834. He was honored with the National Child Award for exceptional achievement in 1997 for securing the feat. In less than 2 years Tathagat Avatar made his second entry in the Guinness Book, as the youngest graduate (B.Sc.- Physics) in the world. At the age of 11 years and 2 months. (The record was earlier held by John Lubo, who did his BA Philosophy at the age of 12 years and 8 months.) Within a year, he went on to finish his M.Sc. Physics with flying colours, from Patna university, creating yet another record. Some of his other achievements are: Calculating the accurate value of 'pi' to 7 figures (unchallenged so far) and his discovery of Tulitron, which Tathagat claims is the smallest atomic particle smaller that even a quark. He has even authored a book on electro gravity unification and energy loss phenomenon. However the road to success has been full of hurdles. Owing to his super mental abilities at an unbelievably young age, Tathagat had to seek help from Delhi and Patna High Courts to prove his brilliance to the concerned authorities prior to his CBSE class 10 and University Examinations respectively. The present case of the NET was no different. "The minimum age limit to appear for NET is 19 years so initially I was refused permission to the exam," says Tathagat. However, on repeated requests to waive-off the age bar, considering the uniqueness of the case, a committee consisting of some senior scientist of NPL, in January, interviewed Tathagat. The committee was impressed with his performance and he was recommended to CSIR, to sit for the examination. And now that he has already taken the much-desired examination he wants "to pursue research on material science and in the area of high temperature superconductors. As a JSR, I would be entitled to conduct research in CSIR Laboratories" that probably explains his objective behind taking the exam. When asked about his ambition in life, Tathagat said, "I wish to work towards solving human problems of scientific and political relevance by exploiting the advantages of science and latest technology" Although the constant obstacles at home have forced him to consider the foreign option, his biggest dream is to win a Nobel Prize and bring crowning glory to his country. Faced with adversity at every step, Tathagat nonetheless is a fighter at heart. He is determined to achieve all that he has set his mind to. "India has all the facilities available for advanced research .My stay in Delhi is necessary to pursue my research objective and I seek support from the Govt. and all my countrymen in this endeavor" he remaked.
