INDIA STUMPED
.

The great Dalmiya tease continues
KOLKATA : The Dalmiya tease continues. And it has already started irritating the normally calm Malcolm Speed. Like a classical Indian spinner in full flight, Dalmiya has dared the ICC to now come forward and carry out its threat of calling off the series against England or declaring the Mohali Test as "unofficial."

If Sehwag plays we will not, say England

ICC tones down its approach to India
LONDON: A day after the ICC threatened to expel India if it continued to flout its authority, the game's governing body is believed to be in favour of a "less decisive" approach rather than resorting to an "extreme measure".

A 'new world order' in the ICC?
Cricketing divisions are settling along a divide between white and non-white countries and the developing and the developed world

BCCI faces $2 million fine for rebellion
CENTURION: Even though BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya has extended an olive branch to the ICC, India could face a $2 million fine for refusing to play the third Test match at Centurion.

India hope Test will become 'official'
India took another swipe at the authority of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday, saying the controversial third Test against South Africa would regain official status.

India vs. SA 3rd Test: Nothing official about it!
It’s official now! The third Test between India and South Africa to be played in a few hours time at Centurion Park has been declared 'Unofficial'. None of the ICC staff would be present at the ground and the scores from the Test would not enter the official record books.

Dalmiya rubbishes ICC’s threat
Kolkata, Nov 23: The BCCI last night rubbished the International Cricket Council’s threat to derecognise the third cricket Test between India and South Africa saying that there were certain parameters for such an action.

Australia backs ICC in India, SA row
HOBART: Australian Prime Minister John Howard and the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) condemned Indian and South African officials on Friday for challenging the International Cricket Council's (ICC) authority to appoint independent match referees.

South African media rally behind India

Nobody won but Tendulkar lost

Denness unfazed amidst storm over his decision

REACTIONS

Sunil Gavaskar:
I cannot imagine Tendulkar being accused of something as serious as ball tampering. He is a sportsman to the core and will never do such a thing.

Geoffrey Boycott:
Why should Tendulkar tamper with the ball? He is not a bowler and at most would have bowled only three to four overs. I feel Mike (Denness) has a misplaced sense of creating history at the most inopportune time. The Indian team must forget it all and concentrate on the job at hand, which is to bat the fifth day out and save the Port Elizabeth test.

Ravi Shastri:
Only those who do not know Tendulkar would make such an allegation against him. Mike (Denness) must have thought about having a cup of tea in the company of the great Indian master and hence sought a meeting.

Pat Symcox:
I don't think Tendulkar with his over 10 years of international experience is daft to pick the seam of a cricket ball… knowing fully well that half-a-dozen cameras are constantly on him to cover each and every movement of the greatest contemporary cricket player. This is downright stupid and I feel the Indian team should focus on the job in hand.

Saurav Ganguly:
Tendulkar had a blemishless record and, for somebody who has played as long as the Mumbai maestro has, it was unthinkable he could have been tampering with the ball. Tendulkar had only been trying to remove the mud and dirt from the ball.

Different Strokes for Different Folks!

Remember when the umpires look the other way even as…..

And recall the time punitive action was taken as….

Glen McGrath hurled abuse at Sachin Tendulkar in 1999 after getting him out?

Venkatesh Prasad exulted in sheer joy after claiming a key victim in 2000.

The mike caught Allan Donald's expletives hurled at Dravid in 1996-97?

Saurav Ganguly did the 'dance' before an Indian umpire seeking a favourable decision through an extended appeal against Zimbabwe 2000?

After being hit by a bouncer, Ricky Ponting ticked off Srinath openly in 2000?

Inzamam stared in stunned disbelief at being out LBW in England in the triangular series in 2001?

Michael Slater argued with umpire Venkatraghavan and Dravid in 2000?

Kumara Sangakkara opened his vocal chords to claim a victim against England last year?

Andre Nel openly abused Saurav Ganguly in the recent tri-nation series.

Sachin Tendulkar tried to remove dirt from around the seam?

Michael Atherton was caught on TV rubbing sands on the ball in 1993 against South Africa in England?

Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Deep Dasgupta appealed for a catch off Shaun Pollock's foot?

Shaun Pollock literally lifted the umpire's finger on the strength of his appeal against SS Das and VVS Laxman in the ongoing test match?

And now, Captain Saurav Ganguly is at the receiving end as he was "not able to control his team"
