Terrorism in Punjab

Kids too were blasted

Two bomb blasts on the same day, i.e June 4, 1990, rocked Sheranwala Gate and Arya Samaj Chowk (road crossing) area of Patiala town of Punjab. The devastating blasts took lives of three children and two men while 30 persons in the close proximity got badly injured.
1990 was a bloody year for Punjab when nearly 2,500 innocent public men, women and children were killed by terrorists. The poor unsuspecting and happy children killed in Patiala incidents left the masses aghast and shocked.

Bomb blast at Amritsar's shopping complex

Katra Ahluwalia is among the main shopping centres of Amritsar. It's always over-crowded. People come their to buy goods of various kinds. Obviously, such a place is an attractive target for the terrorists to strike. And, they struck. On November 18, 1989, it was a normal evening in the shopping complex. But, only till 5.25 P.M. At this time there was a big explosion. A bomb blasted and there was a dense smoke cloud. When the smoke settled down, the pieces of ten bodies were lying scattered on the ground. Many more got injured, and there was a heavy loss of property also.
