King/Kinkri
An ancient form of the
veena, this extinct
instrument accompanied the austere chants of sadhus, jogis and
naths. The player stood and held the single-stringed
instrument at chest level or sat and kept the king in his lap.
The long stem had a toomba attached on one side. It had little
or no ornamentation.
