This is a sub-region of Malwa identified as
the area along the Shivalik foothills and the river Ghaggar-essentially Ropar and Ambala districts and
Nalagarh.
Geographically, this is a transitional area between the plains
and the mountains; its rainfed fields produce rice, maize and
white gram. The Puadi, reputed among his fellow Punjabis for
his easy-going ways and mellow disposition, is also famous for
jalsa, a combination of religious procession and social
statement, as well as swans and raas.
